Confessions of an unpaid homebased beerdrinking chickenwings eating movie critic:
I'm a sucker for any movie which stars a gun wielding Bruce Willis.
I have all the Die Hard movies on DVD. So what if you didn't like 16 Blocks? I'll secretly watch it at home inspite of the bad reviews online. There's more to him than the honest cop who beats up local thugs/ international terrorists/ other not so honest cops. He's capable of playing lead roles in other genres too, you name it he's been there, romance (The Story of Us, Moonlighting), comedy (The Whole Nine Yards, Friends), sci-fi (The Fifth Element, 12 Monkeys) , thriller (The Sixth Sense, do you remember the stellar father figure like screen presence) and film noir (Sin City, Pulp Fiction). But till this very day, he remains one of the most typecast and underrated actors in the industry.

Whether you play John Hartigan or John McLane.. Mr.Willis, I admire you and I'd like to have a beer with you someday.

Opens this weekend in the US. Coming soon to a theatre near you.

"Lucky Number Slevin," a shallow, dandified grandson of "Pulp Fiction", is the movie equivalent of a junior high school showoff desperate to prove he knows more than the teacher. Frantically raising his hand to answer every question, he exhibits the gleeful self-satisfaction of a quiz kid explaining the theory of relativity.

But because the teacher in this case is Quentin Tarantino, topics like the merits of the various James Bonds, the plot of "North by Northwest" and the personality of a 50's cartoon character called the Shmoo are what matters. In the Tarantino school, the pesky loudmouth might get an A. But what good would it do him in the real world?

The Wannabe Indian Punkster,
If I'm gonna have to watch Josh Hartnett movies for you, hah! I won't feel so guilty about making you watch Steven Segal flicks (my retribution for the emotional trauma suffered while you drool over Josh) ;)

Φ,
Yeah, Butch is cool. He can be quite intimidating even though he isn't a big muscular guy. And I say this with an unblemished record of staunch heterosexuality, isn't Bruce Wills someone you'd like to hang out with.. you know, like spend a guys day out with? :)

Bruce Willis is God! amen. He can pull off any rle. Be it in action-heavy roles like in the latest movie or in seriosu roles like in The Sixth Sense.
No wonder he's one of the toipmost actors in Hollywood. But he sucked in that stupid movie, calle Te whole 9 Yards with "friends" star Mat Perry.

aragorn,
Yep, he sure can pull off serious parts and mindless action roles with utmost ease.
I think he was okay in The Whole Nine Yards. But the sequel sucked.

lakshmi,
"he's got that likebility factor many actors don't have nowadays"
True.
The last time I found myself "liking" a Hollywood actor was Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Christian Bale as Batman(he was awesome in American Psycho)... damn, I can't think of anybody else!
I mean, just take a look at the movies today. There's absolutely no replacement for the likes of Bruce Willis, Michael Douglas or even Harrison Ford .. Sad, I know.

Similar situation in Hindi, the aging Khans still rule the box office. I'm glad Saif is making some inroads, but thats about it. Not very different in Tamil either but I guess there's Surya and Vikram who look really promising.

I think I should stop talking now.

Welcome to my blog :)

I wouldn't say HOOOOOOTTT!!! :)
But the way he commands every single scene he is in.. The face, the hair, the retractable claws.. And you get to see his animal mutant rage in the final battles in X-Men & X2. Nope, can't think of anybody else who could play Wolverine better.

Van Helsing, on the other hand was HUGE letdown. I couldn't sit through it even for Hugh.

anna & megha,
Yep, I think I'll agree with you on Hugh Jackman :)
And I forgot to mention Clive Owen from Closer(Thats one movie you should never watch with your girlfriend unless you want her to come up with some really interesting questions right after the movie). He portrays Larry to perfection, he says a lot of repulsive things but you just can't hate him because you can feel his agony. Yeah yeah, I know I was talking about superhero/saving the world types but I'm damn sure that given a chance, Clive would make a terrific James Bond.

Heyy.. Closer was fine. Come on, its not the worst movie you've seen!
lol @ Bill Pullman!
Yep, I firmly believe the woman drove Kurt to kill himself.
And thanks for reading my old posts. Really! :)
